The Museum of Monte Verità
On this guided tour, we will have the opportunity to explore Monte Verità’s charming museum at Casa Anatta and its historic art exhibition and installation of 1978, “Le Mammelle della Verità” (the breasts of truth), by the curator Harald Szeemann. Divided into various thematic sections, the exhibition charts the history of the utopias cultivated at Monte Verità and the intellectual and artistic ferment that pervaded the entire region from 1869 onwards. The museum tour also includes a new exhibition entitled, “The Truths of a Mountain”, which introduces Szeemann and offers insight into how “Le mammelle della Verità” came to be.

Walking Tour of the Grounds & Gardens of Monte Verità
Here we will explore the beautiful grounds of Monte Verità, as they reflect each period in its evolution from the beginning of the 20th century to the present. On this “Utopian Hill,” where anarchists, artists and philosophers dreamed up new ways of living, we will visit the magic of its Zen garden and Tea Park, which includes the botanical miracle that is Europe’s only tea plantation. We’ll delight in the panoramic views of the Ticino valley and glittering Lago Maggiore, in the light-and-air-bathing sanatorium hut that is Casa Selma, and in Chiara’s Rainbow, a mosaic pathway built along the mountain’s energy lines that ends in a brightly patterned mandala.

A Visit to Bellinzona
Bellinzona, the lovely capital of the canton of Ticino, has a fascinating history. With its walls and towers, it evokes the height of the Middle Ages. Its three castles in dramatic locations are considered a UNESCO World Heritage site. We will enjoy a walking tour around the historical part of the town, giving special attention to Castelgrande, located on a rocky peak overlooking the valley. This is an afternoon to feel the powerful historical currents that have flowed through this region.
