Post-Conference Journey:

Into the Beauty of the Alps, Serene Lake Lucerne & Rudolf Steiner’s Goetheanum

september 14~19, 2025

ITINERARY

Our Post-Conference Journey brings us directly into the beauty of the Swiss Alps and German-speaking Switzerland, and provides an opportunity to engage with Rudolf Steiner’s philosophy and legacy.

Sunday, September 14

After lunch at Monte Veritá, we depart by coach for the three hour ride to Interlaken, a traditional Swiss town nestled between two emerald lakes in the Bernese Oberland region. We’ll check into our hotel, where we will stay for two nights. We’ll have some free time to wander before enjoying dinner at our hotel.

Monday, September 15

We begin with breakfast at our hotel. Our coach will then take us to the train station at Grindelwald where we will board the Jungfrau Railway – the highest in Europe – offering a stunning, panoramic, view of the Alps and the snow and glaciers of the Jungfraujoch. This 45-minute ride will take us to the top of the Jungfrau, where we will have lunch at a nearby restaurant. We’ll then travel (how?) to the Trümmelbach Falls, a series of ten glacier-fed waterfalls within the mountains of the Lauterbrunnen Valley and the inspiration for writers from Goethe to Tolkien. After our visit, our coach will meet us for the half-hour drive back to our hotel in Interlaken. We’ll have dinner in a traditional restaurant in Interlaken.

Tuesday, September 16

After breakfast at our hotel, we’ll check out and make the one-hour trip by coach to Lucerne, a lovely medieval city with its covered wooden bridges, picturesque lake, and surrounding snow capped mountains. We’ll take a delightful ferry ride onto Lake Lucerne, stopping for lunch at a lakeside restaurant. In the afternoon, we’ll enjoy a walking tour exploring Lucerne’s rich history, have our dinner at a local restaurant, and return to our hotel for the night.

Wednesday, September 17

We’ll have breakfast at our hotel before checking out and making our way by coach to Dornach, a 90 minute drive. We’ll check into our accommodations, a medieval monastery-turned-hotel, where we’ll spend the final two nights of our journey. A short bus ride on Dornach’s excellent public transportation system will take us to the Goetheanum. It was built under the direction of Rudolf Steiner as a way to honor Goethe and to serve as a sacred site for the articulation of the deepest spiritual mysteries. We’ll enjoy lunch there as well as a welcome orientation and tour of the center. We’ll return to our hotel for a lovely dinner at the Kloster’s restaurant.

Thursday, September 18

After breakfast at our hotel we’ll return to the Goetheanum for a morning presentation from Peter Selg, author of five volumes on the life and work of Rudolf Steiner and director of the Ita Wegman Institute, followed by lunch. We’ll then be introduced to the awe-inspiring, fresco-filled, auditorium of the Goetheanum, illuminating the profound spiritual world that Rudolf Steiner’s work opens to us. We’ll then make our way to nearby Basel, where we’ll enjoy a walk through the Old Town and closing night dinner before returning to our hotel in Dornach.

Friday, September 19

All participants will check out after breakfast at our hotel, and make their own way to their next destination.
